Did u know that a District 6 actually existed? That the shacks, cow carcasses etc are real - a shanty town of what's left of D6? I do have to say that yeah some scenes were a bit outlandish, but for example, in South Africa - it is common to have one person speaking in Afrikaans while another answers in English so I think Blomkamp was jus drawing on his childhood. Almost all of us are bilingual and many trilingual. As long as we understand what's being said there's no obligation to respond in the same language. Hard for some to understand but just the way it is in South Africa.
